A Few of My Favorite Things

You know how Oprah used to have her Favorite Things show every Christmas? This is EXACTLY like that. Except, everything on here is much cheaper. Oh and, no giveaways. But otherwise, TOTALLY like that! Because, if your 2020 was like mine, the only thing making life in quarantine bearable was all of those “brown paper packages tied up with string”, then you’ll appreciate this list. Enjoy!

Static Nails: https://staticnails.com/ Y’all, seriously these are amazing. I was really missing my pretty acrylic nails when I came across this company. They are advertised as pop-on, reusable nails. And they claim they last for weeks. Well, we have clearly come a long way from the Lee Press On Nails of my childhood in the 80’s. Both sets I’ve tried so far have lasted more than two weeks. I type all day long and I’m pretty clumsy and hard on nails and these suckers stay on and look gorgeous! And at $14–16 a set? They’re a steal!

Iconic London creme blushes. I’ve always wanted to try creme blush, but never was sure how to apply them. I follow an amazing, plus-size model, Hunter McGrady, on Instagram and she showed this duo and how easy it was to apply. So I ordered. And I was so happy with how it looks and how well it stays on. This duo is Power Pink and Fearless Flush.

This bread from Aldi makes the BEST French toast. Try it, seriously, it’s so yummy.

Snag Tights. https://snagtights.us/ Comfy. Lots of sizes. Lots of cute colors and designs. Best tights I’ve ever bought.

My three favorite books this year. The Feather Thief is a true story that reads like a bizarre crime novel about feathers used for fly fishing flies. I know, it sounds weird, but trust me. This book was SO interesting. The Lager Queen of Minnesota is a story about generations of women brewers. Hilarious and sweet. The Book of Longings is Sue Monk Kidd at her best. For someone who has been deconstructing from Christianity for awhile now, I loved her take on Jesus and on the women who loved him.

The. Best. Backpack. Hands down. Laura got one for college and after trying hers on, I asked for one for my birthday last year. I can lug a lot of books, plus my Mac around campus in this thing and it’s super comfy. Swiss Army has several different styles, but they’re all great. Comfortable and heavy duty with lots of pockets and nooks and crannies for all your doohickeys.

No, Daniel is not one of my favorite things. Ok, well, yes, actually he is. But his photographer for his senior pictures is what I’m showcasing. She’s amazing. Check her out! https://www.victorianielsonphotography.com/

Signs of Justice is black owned and they are awesome! We got some BLM signs as well from them. Super high quality.

Chattahoochee Nature Center. They have a super cool ropes and zip line course that Daniel and his friend, Nathan, did on Daniel’s birthday. And Laura and I enjoyed hours of hiking on the Nature Center’s gorgeous trails.

If you haven’t eaten one of these, you’re not living. YUM.

No I’m not one of my favorite things. OK OK, I am my MOST favorite thing. But this is about a local stylist I love! Peter Nunn and Salon Magus in Alpharetta, GA. It’s just him and his lil shop. He wears a mask and face shield, has one client at a time and sanitizes everything. Oh, and gives a damn good haircut and gossip sesh, to boot. https://salonlofts.com/salon_magus_by_peter_nunn

When I’m not popping on my cute Static Nails I use Live, Love, Polish. Super cute shades and really high quality! https://www.livelovepolish.com/

Diamonds are stupid. I mean, seriously. I LOVE glitter and bling, but why do we pay so much for an overly inflated rock!? Two companies that make super high quality, lab created (and therefore CONFLICT FREE!!) diamonds are Modern Gents and Jeannes’s Jewels. Jeanne’s specializes in dainty, stackable rings, while Modern Gents specializes in engagement sets, but also carry earrings and rings. Check em out! Unless you are married to a jeweler no one will know that rock cost $100. https://shopjeannes.com/ https://modgents.com/

I bought into the hype and the hype delivered. I love my MacBook!

Matt Strauser at Rubicon Tattoo gave me this gorgeous piece of artwork this summer. I also got an amazing tattoo from Nic Borgwat at Straight Edge Tattoo this year. Both are amazing artists that I will highly recommend! https://www.facebook.com/The-Rubicon-Tattoo-134599583312613/

I also bought this hype too. But it’s gonna be super helpful in clinicals.

Speaking of clinicals and nursing school….Isn’t she pretty!? My mom and dad got me this Littmann Classic and I’m so excited to use it in nursing school and beyond! Who says you can’t be smart AND have pretty stuff!? I mean, this is pretty much right out of Elle Woods playbook, right?

The entire North Shore of Minnesota. Anywhere next to Lake Superior is gorgeous. But go in the summer. Unless you like cold! I lived up here for 9 years and went back this summer with Nate. I will always love the greatest Great Lake.

And while in Duluth on the North Shore, get some Blackwoods. Their chicken and ribs are amazing and this Wave of Passion Chocolate Cake is to die for.

Kittens are everyone’s favorite thing, right!? I’m allergic but we adopted this lil guy for my daughter. A cuddly dog or cat can really make a pandemic better.

I mentioned I liked glitter and bling, right? These sneakers from Southern Fried Chics are my fav! I got Laura a pink pair and we were out hiking one day. We passed a little girl and in an awed voice she said, “Mommy, look at her SHOES!” Life’s too short to wear boring shoes. Get the glitter, girl! https://southernfriedchics.com/

This was how we celebrated Mother’s Day. The best Chicago pizza! And they’ll ship it to your door. You won’t be sorry!

Infinitely Loft. New clothes, all the time. New CUTE clothes, all the time! Wear them, send them back, or buy them at a discounted price. Which I did, too much. So I’m currently on a Loft fast. Til 2021 at least. ;)

Right before we locked down Laura and I went to Ladyslipper Nursery in Holly Springs, GA. It was a little early for too many plants, and then….quarantine. Hopefully Spring of 2021 we can go back. They are super nice people and have an amazing selection.

Pup Yeah! apparel. She makes the cutest doggie bandanas. And of course, Willis was my favorite. sniff, sniff https://www.facebook.com/pupyeah/

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot! I don’t have a picture for this one, but my friend, Sonia, is a massage therapist. She’s the best. She knows my aches and pains and is a THERAPIST in the truest sense of the word. I see her regularly. https://theartofmassageatl.com/

That’s about it y’all!!!! I wish I could give everyone every single thing off this list, but I can’t. Cuz I spent all my money. On all the stuff I just told you about. So…go spend yours!
